gracias a Dios!

i am in La Ceiba, honduras! thanks be to God.
it honestly has been a very crazy few days, full of unexpected and unwanted surprises yet abounding in grace.
i arrived at the airport in San Pedro, an industrial city that is known to be more dangerous (and for this, i realized, are why tickets are much less expensive to fly to San Pedro) and i met an american couple who also needed to reach La Ceiba..we stayed at the same hotel and the following morning took a bus 3 hours through inland Honduras to arrive in La Ceiba. The director at my small spanish school picked me up and drove me to my homestay family...who was not at the home!
The electricity t/o Honduras was shut off due to some issue with the big electricity companies..All the families of la Ceiba then had left their homes to seek a breeze and cool water at the playa. So, a man next door eventually came over and let me in (he ended up being the papi of the girls) and i slept for a few hours, woke up and then Carlos the papi served me a pupusa con salchicha y queso and a little salad thing. i went back to sleep and awoke to the woman of the house, Alexandra, knocking on my door and saying in perfect english, What´s up..hey!i want to see you. hey what´s up girl!.. Haha, it was sooo funny.. i thought i was still in my english speaking dream. Now, we only speak Spanish. i met her precious daughters, a 3 yr old and an 11month old. and two cousins and living there too...a 14 yr old and i think a 6 year old. and Alexandra´s dad lives there too. and another student from the spanish school. it is a busy busy loca home. That night, we ate dinner consisting of rice, beans, and eggs. Then off to sleep again. yes, i was tired. As I shut my bedroom door to turn in for the night, what did i see but a giant, nasty, red cucaracha running across the floor towards my foot.. my choices were fight or flight and i chose fight. i killed it, and went to bed in fear of my unknown crawling roommates.
The next day, began the morning Spanish lessons, which are from 8am to noon each weekday. My tutor is Yesseina, she is 22 years old, and so sweet. We walked the city of La Ceiba and she gave me the grand tour. Conversation flows easily between us, and she actually is hooking me up with her mom´s evangelical church here. Tomorrow nite will be my first church service in Honduras...i´m pumped. the Lord has calmed my soul and given me peace in these days of uncertainty. my prayer is that in His grace, i may be used to further His namesake here and love the people with His heart.
